Childhood “Haunting” Memories From Harsh Words
Since her school days, Anh Thu had to endure many hurtful remarks about her appearance. Some people would bluntly say, “That girl is the ugliest one in town,” while others tried to soften it with, “She’s just not that pretty.” Whether intentional or not, those comments left deep emotional scars. She became extremely self-conscious, always afraid of being seen or judged – just wishing to blend in and go unnoticed. That was why, at the age of 18, she made the decision to change her appearance – and the first feature she wanted to fix was her nose.
At that time, she underwent her first rhinoplasty in Can Tho using a simple artificial implant – one of the earliest techniques available. However, this method only lifted the bridge without improving the short nasal tip, leaving the result far from what she hoped for. Not long after, an accident affected her nose, forcing her to undergo a second surgery. Unfortunately, that procedure made the bridge even lower and exposed the implant. Living with a damaged nose and constant comments about her looks gradually shattered her confidence.
A Difficult Case – Rejected Multiple Times Until…
Over the years, Anh Thu visited many cosmetic clinics in search of a solution. Yet, she was repeatedly turned away. Doctors told her there was nothing they could do – her nose had already been operated on twice, the skin was too thin, and the tip too short to reconstruct.
Despite countless rejections, she never lost hope. As she put it, “Rhinoplasty is a long journey – it’s my dream to become the best version of myself. If technology keeps improving, one day I’ll be able to fix it. I just can’t give up.”
Traveling From Can Tho to Ho Chi Minh City – Between Hope and Fear
“The night before my trip to Saigon, I couldn’t sleep. I was anxious the entire way – terrified I’d be rejected again. So many what-ifs ran through my mind,” Anh Thu recalled.
