1. The story of “Crooked Pi”
Only those born with facial deformities like Tường can truly understand the years of insecurity he had to endure. His uniquely crooked nose led to constant teasing. He was even given the nickname “Crooked Pi” at an age when children start to feel embarrassed and self-conscious. (His family nickname is Pi.)
Tường was called “Crooked Pi” since childhood because of his unusually crooked nose.
“That period was extremely tough for me. Even small jokes could hurt me deeply. I felt stuck and exhausted. I didn’t know what to do to have a normal-looking nose,” Tường shared.
He withdrew socially, avoided taking photos, and if he did, he only dared to show his side profile, then spent an hour editing before posting.
But rather than breaking him, these insecurities fueled Tường’s determination to work harder, save money, and pursue cosmetic surgery with the hope of changing his life.
2. The difficult journey from “crooked” to “straight”
After spending months researching and consulting many places, Tường finally chose a cosmetic center in District 6.
“I was extremely excited and hopeful because I always dreamed of having a straight nose like everyone else,” he said.
When he first saw his straightened nose in the mirror, he was overjoyed. But only three months later, the crookedness returned, even worse than before. Previously it curved like a tilde, now it had turned into a clear C shape.
“I was devastated. All my hopes were shattered. Even though they offered a warranty, I didn’t want to return,” he recalled.
Still disappointed but not defeated, he kept working and saving for a “second chance.”
This time, he was recommended a center in District 1. They advised structural rhinoplasty and shaving excess bone on the right side, promising better results. But three months later, the crookedness persisted.
Only then did the center realize his case was more complex than they initially thought. They suggested a third surgery to shave more bone on the right side and use Megaderm at the nasal tip. However, complications from the first two surgeries made the third one extremely difficult, and the outcome remained unsatisfactory.
After three failed rhinoplasties, losing money, time, and experiencing significant pain, Tường felt hopeless. Seeing others with straight noses made him emotional. When his family asked, “Why not fix it properly once and for all?” he had no answer.

3. Determination rewarded
“Tường had a deviated nasal base, congenital septal deviation, missing bone on the left side, bone protrusion on the right side, a C shaped deviation of the bridge and tip, thin skin with exposed implant, drooping alar base, and asymmetrical nostrils. With his condition, the correction rate would be around 80 to 90 percent. Hearing this made me nervous, but I felt extremely reassured. I had already looked into many of AZ NOSE’s revision cases, so I decided to have my surgery here,” Tường said.
“Most revision rhinoplasty cases take two to three hours, but mine took more than four. The doctor even showed me the shape of my nose right on the operating table. Only when I felt satisfied did he close the incision. This was something I never experienced at the previous centers.”

When asked whether he regretted undergoing cosmetic surgery, Tường answered:
“After four surgeries, spending nearly 100 million, and giving everything I had, sometimes I felt regretful but only because I didn’t choose the right place from the start. Thankfully, I had enough determination to keep going. That’s why I met Dr. Hoàng Nam and finally have the straight, natural nose I dreamed of.”
His unique nose journey and resilience have inspired many people who are insecure about their failed rhinoplasty.
